As more and more facts are revealed to the public, we can see the degree to which our 45thpresident has abused his power, which has only added to his ever-growing unpopularity.
Never chosen by the people but by the outdated and undemocratic electoral college, Individual-1 was never popular with the American people. And during the course of his first two years in office, he has governed according to the whims of his base and not to the electorate at large, thus making his already unpopular status with the American people ever more unpopular.
After thousands of devastating news reports, denials, statements followed by retractions made by Individual-1, and after starting and then ending his government shutdown after 35 devastating days, our president’s approval rating sank into the 33-37 percentile, an all-time low. If our president were anyone other than Individual-1, I might say that he or she had nowhere to go but up. But unfortunately for him, and knowing what is just around the corner awaiting our unpopular #45, we are merely looking at the beginning of his historic demise. Indeed, from here on out in his presidency, our #45 has nowhere to go but down.
For nearly two years now, our 45thpresident has decried the Special Counsel’s investigation as a “witch hunt,” doing everything he can to discredit Robert S. Mueller, III, and Mueller’s pursuit of the truth, wherever it takes him. So how and when will this so-called “witch hunt” end?
Looking ahead, it seems highly likely that indictments will drop quickly and very soon, getting closer and closer to the president and his family. In fact, the odds of the president and all of the members of the criminal enterprise that constitutes his presidency, cabinet, and family avoiding any punishment, incarceration, or at the very least indictment, seem more and more ludicrous. Indeed, the walls of Justice are coming closer and closer. In truth, the only wall #45 may end up with is one of the sort they have in prison cells.
As to Individual 1’s ability to succeed in getting any of his policies passed in the future, seem even more unlikely. If anything, his shutdown of the government was perhaps his last hurrah, the only action he could that would affect the public in any way, albeit to the American public’s great harm and to our nation’s detriment.
No doubt, he will try to declare a national emergency when the next deadline comes around on February 15, but this action, both unconstitutional and ineffective as well as setting a dangerous precedent for all future presidents, will be struck down quickly by the courts, thus humiliating an already impotent president even more by exposing his impotence to the world, and causing a rupture within the Republican Party that will finally understand that it can no longer support its Republican President.
This action, like the shutdown that #45 just forced upon the American people without their consent or approval, when added to Mueller’s indictments still to come, will spell #45’s quick downfall, a final collapse of what little public approval he has left, which will force his resignation from office. In this, I suspect that Republican Senator close to Individual-1 (I’m thinking Lindsay Graham), will go the White House to meet privately with the president and explain to Individual-1 in terms as kind as he can make them, as Senator Barry Goldwater once did to President Nixon, that the president’s goose is cooked, and that they have the votes in the Senate to impeach. The president, who has proven himself in a confrontation to be a total wimp (to borrow Ann Coulter’s terminology for him), will take a deal and run, not walk, out of the Oval Office.
And all I will say when that great day comes, and it will come soon, within the next few months, will be “Ding! Dong! The Witch is Dead.” And thus the “witch hunt” that #45 has railed against for nearly two years, will come to an end. That the witch will melt is without question. Now, we only have to wait for the pail of water.
