The Orange Monster (“the OM”) in the Oval Office has successfully turned what was once the Republican Party into an authoritarian cult of personality. As such, the GOP is symbolized not by a living, breathing and magnificent elephant but as the wretched reeking dead carcass of all that the GOP once stood for rotting in a wasteland, without morals, scruples, or the slightest sense of duty to our constitution. Indeed, the GOP’s symbolic use of the elephant now stands as insult to the integrity, compassion and intelligence of all living, breathing elephants everywhere.
It seems clear that history will one day judge today’s Republican Party as the Repugnant Ones Party, since the OM has succeeded in converting most Republicans into Repugnant Ones, branding all of his sycophants and steadfast followers with the very same “I-words” that he himself has come to represent to the far wider and far larger majority of Americans who have not drunk Rupert Murdoch’s Fox Noise Kool-Aid.
More than a few horrible I-words come to mind. Here are but a few that aptly describe the president and his followers: Immoral, Intolerant, Indolent, Incapable, Incapacitated, Incorrigible, Insolent, Ignorant, Ill-educated, Ill-equipped, Ill-informed, Ill-Tempered, Ill, Insipid, Idolatrous, Inept, Inexperienced, Iniquitous, Incoherent, Impudent, Impertinent and Imperiled.
But the best I-words of all, whenever I think of the OM and the Repugnant Ones who still protect him and stand with him, are in a class all to themselves, beginning with the words Indictable, Indicted and Indictments and ending with the word Impeachment.
